Brennan Grignon is a results-oriented leader with extensive experience in the private and public sector. She has spent her career helping organizations solve their most pressing challenges - from developing one of the earliest risk management dashboards for private equity clients, to transitioning NASA's space shuttle workforce to new careers at the agency, to developing COVID response strategies for the Departments of Defense and Health and Human Services. Her experience in corporate finance, non-profit institutions, and the federal government provide her a unique perspective; having worked in and around all types of organizational structures, she understands the importance of mission-focused and data-driven decision making, supported by clear and concise communication. As a public facing leader for the majority of her career, translating complex problems into solution-oriented, executable plans is core to Brennan's capabilities.
Before founding 5M Strategies, Brennan was the supply chain lead for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, leading two interagency assessments of the defense industrial base, and serving as the primary liaison between industry and the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment. During the initial year of the COVID-19 pandemic, Brennan was a core member of DoD's COVID-19 response team, formulating supply chain strategies for DoD, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the White House.
Prior to DoD, Brennan worked at LMI, where she led the company's research and development institute and provided strategic planning, communications, and workforce development support to organization's like NASA, the U.S. Army, and the General Services Administration.
The first half of Brennan's career was spent in the finance sector, where she worked for a risk management company managing the corporate retirement assets for private equity firms. She started her career at Morgan Stanley in private wealth management, and in both roles she was instrumental in leveraging new software technology to develop better quantitative analysis tools for her clients.
Brennan is a graduate of American University, with a bachelor's degree in History and Biology, and a master's degree in History. She lives in Washington, DC with her family.
5M Strategies is an homage to Brennan's heritage. Brennan was named Margaret at birth, as were her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always went by her middle name, Brennan, which was her great-grandmother's maiden name - the "original" Margaret.
When Brennan gave birth to her first child, a girl, it seemed only fitting to carry on the tradition, and she named her Margaret - the fifth of her kind.
Five generations of women, all first-born in their family, have created a legacy of tenacity, fortitude, and compassion upon which this organization is built.
